The beautiful Lynx

I've always found the Lynx to be one of the most beautiful creatures found in the arms of Mother Nature. Just look at those piercing, soulful eyes!

My Melody certainly isn't as wild as the Lynx, but she's definately beautiful, isn't she!?! She's a 10-year old Maine Coon mix. She came from the SPCA and was a rescued kitty from Austin. I've had her since she was 12 weeks old. I was going to name her Fionnagh, but when I told my father about her "singing" all the way home, he suggested the name Melody, which stuck. At the time of her adoption, the fees were only $19 at the SPCA, and that still included her spaying (when she was old enough). Fees for cat/kitten adoption at the SPCA are now $99! Melody's a sweet, trusting girl that loves her belly rubbed.

Clark

This is my Clarky. Four and a half years ago, my sister was working as an assistant manager at an apartment complex. One day, one of her maintenance guys found a cat that had given birth to 3 kittens on their property. Clark was one of those kittens. The mother never would let them take her in, but they would leave food and water for her. When the kittens were six weeks old, the maintenance guy rescued Clark for my sister to bring to join Melody & me. He'd had quite a traumatic day with one of his siblings being hit (and killed) by a car, being taken from his mother, and moving to Dallas. He did NOT want anything to do with me those first few hours and would hiss at me when I tried to reach into his carrier. He didn't take too long to warm up to me, though, and now he's my 18.5 lb "baby" that likes to cuddle up with me on my chest (and stomach and thighs...he's a BIG boy!) He's not much into getting his tummy rubbed, but scratch his bum just right and he'll drool! He also says "Mum" or "Momma" when he meows. He was neutered by the caring (and reasonably priced) doctors at Hillside Veterinary Clinic in Lakewood, as was his little brother Aidan (4 years old), who's also an orange tabby, but smaller (12 lbs). Six months after I got Clark, Aidan came from one of my sister's friends whose cat had a litter of kittens.
